Weber Carburetors.

Weber is owned by Magneti Marelliby which is part of the Fiat Group. Italian production of carburettors ended in 1992 and production was moved to Madrid, Spain.

Edoardo Weber (1889-1945) worked for Fiat from 1914. After the war, his success was in selling conversion kits to run trucks on kerosene rather than petrol and his company's name was Fabbrica Italiana Carburatori Weber. He manufactured carburettors as part of the conversion kits and was a pioneer in the use of 2-stage twin barrel carburettors.
In 1952, Fiat gained control of the company (after Weber's death in 1945) and Weber's carburettors were fitted to racing applications and standard production cars such as Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, BMW, Chrysler, Ferrari, Fiat, Ford, Lamborghini, Lancia, Lotus, Maserati, Morgan, Porsche, Renault, Triumph and Volkswagen. Fiat merged Weber and its competitor Solex, in 1986, into a company called Raggruppamento Controllo Motore (Engine Management Group).
Weber carburettors are still used in classic and historic racing as modern cars tend to use fuel injection systems rather than carburettors. Carburettors use jets to pass fuel into the air to make a fine mist.
